Witchcraft 101 |
|
|
Witchcraft and Paganism are the fasted growing religious systems in the U.S. Their popularity is based on the perceived failure of Christianity. Despite the fact that the major establishment churches have preached against it and opposed it in every way, Wicca, or Witchcraft, is one of the fastest growing religions in America today. Wicca is a belief system and way of life based upon the reconstruction of pre-Christian Witchcraft traditions originating in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. While much of the information about this ancient practice is believed has been lost due to the efforts of the Christian church to erase Witchcraft from the Earth, it has been reconstructed from the information that is available. An on-going Wicca/Witchcraft class and discussion group is held each Wednesday evening at 7 pm at Alpha Book Center, 1928 E. McDowell in Phoenix. Taught by noted teacher, Cheri Preising, who will discuss focusing and directing mental energy, building magickal tools, and using them for healing and other purposes, and many other subjects. Often called "Wicca 101" this class is presented in an informational style with no pressure to go beyond the class into more advanced work. As such it is a good starting point for someone wanting to learn more about the Craft, but unsure of how involved they wish to become. Also it is a good place for family and friends to learn that Wicca is not a threatening religion or way of life. The course covers: History, philosophy and main beliefs, Craft basics, Tools of the Craft, Elements and Elementals, Wheel of the Year, Moons, Sabbats, and Esbats, Spells and magick , and much more. The class is open to those of all faiths. Those attending should bring a pen and note pad. The class is free. For further information call 602-253-1223 |
